Randolph Macon College was organized in 1830 by the Methodist denomination to respond to the need for a liberal arts college for prospective ministers, and remains the oldest incorporated Methodist College in the country. The college opened in October 1832 on the outskirts of the town of Boydton, built on the site of a former horse race track.

Randolph-Macon College (R-MC) in Ashland, Virginia was founded in 1830 by a group of Virginia Methodists and named after two statesmen. The college was originally built in the town of Bodyton but was moved to Ashland in 1868 to escape the Civil War. Students raised much of the money required for the construction of the first college building on the new site, called Washington and Franklin Hall.

Ruby Rim is a Sociology and Psychology major at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She is actively involved in her school through the International Interest Group, Diversity Council, and the Honors Program. While at school, she worked as a writing tutor, English tutor, and copy editor of the Yellow Jacket Newspaper. This is her second time in Cambodia working with EducationUSA.
